SWIC 35th season kick-off lunch

SWIC kicked off its 35th season in grand style. Around 80 SWIC Members gathered to celebrate the start of the SWIC Year 2021-22 at the stunning Chairman’s Room on the 40th floor of the Futian Shangri-La hotel.

As they arrived, Members wrote down their wishes for fellow SWIC sisters and hung them on the Wishing Tree in the foyer. Prosecco and wine were served as ladies dressed in SWIC colours of maroon, mauve and pinks, mingled, took group pictures, and admired the views of Shenzhen.

This year’s guests of honour were Mandy Gil and Maribel MacDonald, Board Members from 2019 to 2021, as well as Julie Iden. Tributes to their contribution to SWIC were highlighted. And for the first time, we also presented a brief AGM report, with a summary of SWIC finances: how its revenues were gained and spent last year, in order to improve transparency of the club to members.

The party really started when MC Jen took the stage! With that twinkle in her eye and engaging spirit, she worked the room and soon everyone was having a jovial time. Another talented SWIC Member who was working hard that day was Stacy, SWIC’s very own professional photographer. Check out her amazing pictures!
